first of all, i have to put in a plug. for those of you with kids, you have to buy this kelty kid carrier. it's money well spent. 
for our trip to augusta, i fit all of eva's and my clothes, a pillow for her, and a blanket plus a bunch of toys/books for the plane in the big compartment. THEN, the main bag has a little bag that zips off where i put diapers, wipes, food, some more books, papers, a doodle pro, etc. bonus: the little bag lets her look like daddy (see second pic). on top of all this, her riding compartment is apparently so comfortable that she can sleep in it:
here she is toting her diapers, etc. she's kinda like a pack mule, but cuter and smells better:
and we flew US air, so OF COURSE we had major delays and problems. i HATE US air. they could learn a lot from southwest. i pray for the day they go belly up or augusta picks up another airline that operates out of bush field. anyway, eva and i found ways to entertain ourselves for hours on end. she just hopped in the carrier, and i literally ran all over charlotte airport with her SCREAMING in joy. i've never heard that little girl laugh so hard. in summary, i have a PERFECT child, and you all need a kelty kid carrier.

This is a good idea :) I've spent many hours in the Charlotte airport...but your time seems more entertaining! Eva is looking older these days, and of course very cute :)
I might need to try that out at playgroup next week -- Jonah HATES our backpack carrier, but maybe he'd like the Kelty.
